Apple Keynote – iPad

This will be one of the two million blog posts about what happen on the apple keynote at 27th of January 2010. But, so what, everything talks about and me too.

On 10:10am Steve Jobs let the cat out of the bag: The new technology is called iPad and looks like a bloated iPhone. Nearly the same time, the microblogging service Twitter has a lot of lags. So, i found the website to follow the progress of Apple Keynote 2010. On this site your’re also able to take a look into many photos of this iPad.

Some of the technical specifications of the new iPad has been released:

  • 9.7 inches display
  • 0.5 inches thin
  • 1.5 pound weight
  • WiFi 802.11n
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • full multi-touch
  • 10h accu duration
  • Apple 1Ghz A4 Chip
  • up to 64 GB flash storage
  • some models with 3G support

But now, we come to the interesting part of this iPad – pricing.

  • iPad 16 GB – 499$
  • iPad 32 GB – 599$
  • iPad 64 GB – 699$

For 3G you have to pay an additional charge of 130$. (Models without 3G should be unlocked. Others are captivated with AT&T. I’m exited, how it will look like in Germany)

In 60 days the standard models of iPad will be available worldwide, 3G models take up to 90 days.

I don’t think, the iPad is so much new in technologies. You can buy ebook reader since a while, touchscreen pcs exists also for a longer time and you can use them for the same things, yet. The iPad is just the first mac-based tablet pc.

But in case, you’re thinking about buying an MacBook or something like that, it could be worth spend one or two thoughts to buy an iPad alternatively. Because of the strong Euro in Germany, it could be a good investition – but, you should also keep an eye on how it develops regarding provider bindings. We’ll see.
